At KCC, our philosophy of care emphasizes supplementation rather than replacement. Rather than removing individuals from the foundational structures that support the spiritual health of all members—such as corporate worship and community groups—we seek to provide additional layers of care as needed.
Our advocacy program integrates at two key points along this spectrum of support:
• For members who sense a gap in their spiritual formation within our core structures but are not facing an acute or specific spiritual challenge, we assign a peer advocate. These are mature members who have volunteered to engage in intentional, one-on-one discipleship for a season to encourage growth.
• For members experiencing a significant, specific spiritual struggle and participating in biblical counseling, we assign a counseling advocate. These advocates attend counseling sessions regularly and assist the counselee in applying and living out the biblical truths discussed between formal meetings. We have found this accompaniment to be an increasingly essential element of our counseling ministry, owing in large part to the faithfulness and giftedness of the members God has provided.
Across all supplemental care structures, our ultimate aim remains constant: to foster greater dependence on Christ rather than on advocates, programs, or ministry leaders. As we frequently say, our goal is to work ourselves out of a job. While community remains indispensable at every stage of growth, we pray that over time our foundational structures will prove sufficient to sustain and nurture ongoing spiritual maturity.
At King’s Cross Church, biblical counseling is a ministry of walking alongside others with wisdom, love, and intentionality, guided by Scripture and empowered by the Holy Spirit. The effects of sin and brokenness touch us all, underscoring our need for God’s love and presence in times of trial. We recognize that life’s challenges— whether anxiety, grief, difficult decisions, fear, marital struggles, or other hardships—can feel overwhelming, and no one should face them alone.
Our biblical counselors are here to support you, offering compassionate guidance and pointing you to the Wonderful Counselor (Isaiah 9:6), who is ever-present and will never forsake you. If you are feeling stuck or burdened, we invite you to connect with a counselor who will journey with you through your challenges.
As a ministry of King’s Cross Church, we offer:
• Individual Counseling
• Marital Counseling
• Family/Parental Counseling
• Premarital Counseling
